Frequently Asked Questions

Feeling comfortable with your spa treatment is just as important as the treatment itself. Below are some of my most frequently asked questions.

Service FAQs:

+ I've been waxed before on Retin-A/Retinol. Why won't you do it?

It's honestly in your best interest that you don't get waxed. Retin-A/Retinol is another form of exfoliating, which can cause your skin to lift with waxing due to it being systemic. For your safety, you will not be able to get waxed if you've been using it within the past 7 days.

+ Did you recently get botox and/or fillers?

Unless it has been past 14 days, you should not get any treatments done in that area, whether it's waxing, threading, tweezing or anything that is manipulating to the skin. It can takes up to 14 days for any injections to settle.

+ How long should the hair be on my body before a wax?

The ideal length for hair is about 1/4 of an inch (the size of a grain of rice). You want it long enough for the wax to hold on to, but not so long as to make it painful.

+ What's the process of brow and lash tinting?

It takes anywhere from a 15-30 minutes, depending on how your hair processes the color. We use a tint that was specifically designed and tested for your eye area. It is completely safe. I do require you to have a test patch done for 24 hours if you have never had your hair dyed before (professionaly or boxed) or you've had a reaction to dye in the past.

+ How should I prepare for my facial?

When you visit Skin Fluent for facial treatments, you should arrive in your most natural state. This means no makeup or other products. We do have makeup remover, but please arrive at least 5 minutes earlier than your scheduled appointment if you have a full face of makeup on so we can prepare your skin accordingly and not cut into your appointment time. We also recommend avoiding excessive sun exposure and harsh treatments on your face the week prior to your appointment.

+ How long does a facial take?

Your first initial facial will take approximately 90 minutes which 30 of those minutes are designated to go over your health history form and select the right treatment for you. I customize all facials and body treatments for your individual skin type and will always advise you of the best service for your skin needs.

+ How often should I get a facial?

To maintain optimum results of your skin, I recommend having a facial or body treatment every 4-6 weeks to start. If you are looking to correct any issues such as blemishes, dryness, fine lines or rosacea, I will be happy to assist you in choosing a the right treatment(s) and home regimen that will work best for your specific skin type and skin issue.

+ Is there any reasons why I couldn't get a facial if I'm pregnant or have certain health conditions?

Keep in mind that certain conditions, like pregnancy and acute health conditions, may limit treatment options. I will always keep the health of the client as my top priority in choosing a treatment that is right for you.

+ What should I do before a spray tan session?

• Hydrate well the night before (I can't stress this enough) • Exfoliate and shave at minimum 12 hours before your appointment. • Wax 24 hours (or more) before your appointment. Waxing the day of your airbrush tan (spray tan) will make it difficult for the tanning solution to stick to the freshly waxed skin. I do offer threading and can do that the same day. • Complete all other beauty services first; nails, waxing, facials and massages • Day of your spray tan you can shower as normal, but if you are showering 4 hours before your appointment, do not moisturize as your skin will be too hydrated that the solution won't last as long. No deodorant, but if you are wearing it, let me know so I can give you a wipe :). • No self tanners should be on the skin.

+ How long does an airbrush (spray) tan last?

An airbrush (spray) tan tends to last anywhere from 4 to 7 days, depending on your aftercare and frequency of exfoliating and/or shaving. However, your tan can last up to 10 days if you take extra good care of your skin.

+ I thought spray tans were orange...

Not here. The orange discoloration is due to using the wrong solutions or the wrong color mixology for your skin. No self tanners should be on the skin as this can also create the solutions to be changed. Follow my prep and aftercare instructions and you will be the perfect shade of bronze.

+ What do I wear to a spray tan appointment?

Most babes tan nude. If you prefer a tan line or feel more comfortbale wearing a top and bottom, I recommend something dark, bikini a strapless bra or bandeau.. I also have disposable thongs for your convenience. For the boys: Minimal clothing, such as boxers or briefs. • Ideally, loose fitting clothes are recommended and bring flip flops too. Try to avoid crocs as they tend to make your feet hot.

+ When can you shower after a spray tan?

• Stay away from all moisture until your first shower; this means no showers, no work outs, no cleaning, no lotions and no crying. • Your first shower is just a rinse. Using tempid water and your hands to rinse surface bronzer off your skin. That's it. No soap. No body wash. No Moisturizer. • 24 hours after your first rinse, shower as normal. • Avoid harsh scrubbing, hot water, and bar soap. • Pat yourself dry, never rub.

All of these tips for pre & post spray, will keep your tan lasting to its fullest potential. The gentler you are with your skin, the better!

If you are more than 10 minutes late for your appointment, I will try to accommodate you any way I can, but your service might be shortened or have to be rescheduled depending on the service that was booked. To all of Skin Fluent's clients, I certainly understand that life sometimes can interfere with scheduled appointments, so if scheduling conflicts arise, I would like to emphasize my cancellation policy.
